Bankruptcy / Re-Organization 

IPmetrics experts have been involved with providing definitive marketplace values for many trademarks, brands and patents to the federal bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware.  These bankruptcy related projects have included reorganizations or liquidations associated with consumer brands, apparel companies, shoe companies and technology concerns.

Damages / Infringement

In a recent case, our professionals were called upon to calculate historical values for the Hang Ten family of trademarks.  also been asked to provide expert opinions in matters associated with the infringement of doll copyrights, consumer good trademarks and action figure character trademarks.

Electronic Assets 

Valuations of domain names and websites have been provided both as stand-alone projects and as part of larger projects.  The assets were associated with companies ranging from start-ups to established "bricks and mortar" organizations.

Licensing and Royalty Rates

In a typical assignment, a US-based provider of facilities management and maintenance services established a holding company for its intellectual property and called upon our experts to determine the appropriate royalty rate to charge the operating subsidiaries for the use of its intangible assets.

Taxes / Valuation 

IPmetrics personnel have worked on several tax strategy projects, including the royalty rate project identified above as well as valuation work related to determining the value of trademarks assigned to holding companies.  These projects helped our clients ensure that their treatment of intangibles was appropriate for tax purposes and provided relevant information for developing their future tax and financing strategies.

Technology Valuation

Several large manufacturing companies have utilized our experience and expertise to pinpoint the value of technologies for donation purposes.  Our work helped them determine the value of the assets donated and enabled the clients to procure significant deductions against their taxable income.

Trademark and Brand Valuation

Most likely our main body of work, we have performed valuations of character trademarks and multimedia copyrights for various entertainment companies involved in litigation, transaction negotiation and financing activities.  In addition, valuation work has been performed for several non-profit organizations interested in establishing or expanding their trademark licensing programs.  Many well-known consumer brands have also been valued recently by IPmetrics professionals.
